Have reason to think that there is a connection between George Austen born 1807 Wye who later lived in Chilham, and my Thomas Austen Smith born 1835/6 Mells (Somerset) to Charles Smith, a Blacksmith in the village. Am told that Thomas's mother was a Martha (tho n 1851 Charles is married to Ann of Somerset). George Austen had a daughter Martha born 1840 - wondering if he also had a sister Martha?
