HI Jay, got my password sorted now! As I mentioned in my e-mail to you this morning, I also have a Benjamin Ashforth , with a brother Matthew. On checking my details, it is possible that the families are linked in some way because of the similar first names and the general area in which they lived . My earliest Ashforth is as stated in my first post, but I have discovered he was a "soap boyler". I think it was his son benjamin who had Birtin House built.This residence eventually passed to John Dickinson ,husband of Ann Ashforth. I would be interested to see any details of 'your' Ashforths if you wish to share them. Kind Regards, Jackie
