I have listed Rhoda Ann Sperry daughter of Benjamin & Winny Artrip Sperry, married to James Vinson and having 5 children. James Vinson died in 1828 and Rhoda remarried to Steven Marcum about 1828. They had four children and all are listed with the surname "Vinson". Most notable is Lafayette Frenchman Vinson born in 1835. In all my records these children are list as "Vinson" and I believe they should be "Marcum". Can anyone provide a documented explanation why these children have the surname "Vinson". I am posting this because of the tie in with Winny Artrip. Thank you, Larry Clere |
