Need help from et al in righting a wrong
DAR attempting to cover-up multiple (repeat multiple) mistakes by bestowing a contrived honor on Reuben Bates in lieu of his earned military honors.
FOR ONE OF MANY DAR MISTAKES BY DAR
In this case, they rejected the following military record
of Reuben Bates Sr (1731-1800) of Louisa Co., VA
War Volumes - LVA Misc Reel No. 983 War 4 page 94
"Bates, Reuben - Soldier of the infantry - paid by Mr
Duval on March 4, 1783 - 36.0.0 "
BATES & DUVAL "PAIRED-UP"
Per his Pension application, Mr. Duval was one and same
as officer William Duval. He and Reuben Bates are
"paired-up" as residents of Louisa Co., in VA in 1783 per
DAR rejected the above, but attempted to cover-up their
multiple mistakes by bestowing a contrived honor on Reuben Bates Sr. (1731-1800) of Louisa Co., VA
A PATRIOT BECAUSE HE PAID HIS TAXES
Below, DAR said that Reuben Bates was a Patriot because
he paid his Taxes. HOORAY,what a great HONOR. Everybody but
everybody paid their taxes.

> Dear Mrs. REDACTED,
> I am so pleased to hear from you. Although the staff and I have reviewed this supplemental many times in hopes of finding documentation whereby we could verify Military Service for Reuben Bates, we have been totally unable to do so. But as you may know, Military Service is not the only way of establishing service for an individual. There are also the options of Civil and Patriotic Service by which many supplementals have been approved. Accordingly, following the big push to verify as many applications as possible for Continental Congress, I asked the staff to do some research into these options in hopes of finding an alternate means for approving this supplemental.
> As part of the staff’s research they looked into the personal tax lists from the Revolutionary War period. This was due to the fact that in the past two years we were able to expand Patriotic Service to VA taxpayers from that era since it was established that a portion of their tax payments went to support the War effort.
> I am very pleased to report that as the result of examining the 1783 personal property tax list in Louisa County, VA, we have established Patriotic Service for Reuben Bates. This means that your supplemental will be verified this week. Your Chapter Registrar will have access to the electronic copy in the membership database and can provide a copy for you.
> We are pleased that the DAR staff was able to assist in brining this matter to a positive conclusion.
