So since I was young I wanted to join the SAR. However now that I'm almost 20 I figured now is as good a time as any. So I found my ancestor listed (only one that a member descended through most of my blood line) in the DAR database. Upon reading the application I paid for it states George Black (1755-1815) was a Sgt., in Lytles Company In Service 18 Months. Next to this someone hand wrote deserted. Then it says Justice of the Peace ratified December 23, 1778. It also says his residence at the time of the war was Randolph County, North Carolina. If he deserted how does his service gain me entrance into the SAR. Desertion means disloyal right? Also can any shed any light on these 18 months with Lytles Company? TIA
