Have you seen what is available to you through the online DAR site?

Have you checked with the NARA to see if they have service and/or pension papers for him? There will be no charge if they find nothing.
We know he wasn't living in Indiana during the ARW times, so it would be helpful if you could include where he WAS living at the time in question...for instance, if it's PA, there is a vet lookup from the archives, and other such places...however, it's necessary to know where a person lived, to know where to look for them. Plus I'll bet Henry Kirk is not an unusual name !
As far as the wives go, why do you think they were wives? Does this mean you don't know who his wife or wives were? Have you checked area newspapers for obits. I know nothing about Indiana, but have found obits in PA and VA newspapers for obits in the 1700s, and wonder if obits might be a possibility for you?
