My ancestor Willam Cook served in the Revolutionary War. He was from Haverhill and is listed in "Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors" as serving in "Capt Moses McFarland's co, Col. John Nixon's regt; receipt for pay dated Cambridge June 10, 1775...Aug 1, 1775," etc, with various mentions and rolls for terms of service through 1777.
I would have thought with the various lengths of service it would have been easy to find him in the original rolls (whoever wrote this book did!).

But he doesn't seem to be in any of the very extensive online postings of revolutionary war rolls or original records in any form. Can anyone help me locate or give advice on how to find the original records ?

Thanks!
