The internet is a wonderful tool, if used correctly...unfortunately, most don't. They find 'facts' (I use the term lightly) on a family, take them as true, add them to their tree of dubious ancestors, and then later, post it on line as fact. As you know, we can believe NOTHING without proof, and by proof I mean primary records..birth, marriage, death records, census, deeds, wills, etc...and NEVER accept secondary records as fact. That is, all those family histories (long on theory but short on fact), county or state histories, or what is 'told' us by our families...the latter is notoriously full of errors, passed down verbally, changing each generation. All those are clues ONLY, but a huge percentage of people just 'pluck' totally undocumented data from the internet, take the word of Aunt Tilley, and 'share' it all with others as factual data.
Get the blue index DAR books, look in the front for how to order copies of filled out papers....there may be many who have joined on the same vet, and all could have a different line to that VET...thus, it's important to explain your line to that Vet to see if there is a woman who 'shares', at least part of your line to the Vet.
