My original question needs to be modified. I found out shortly after posting this inquiry that all you needed to do to get the marriage information was to reverse the first and middle names. She was married as “Lora E. Allen” not “Elizabeth L. Allen”, as the 1850 census has it. She is listed in the 1860 Census of Jasper County, Poweshiek Twp., Iowa as Laura E. Howard, along with her husband and 3 children, 2 of whom are listed in the later censuses of Ancestry.com. She is not listed again by the last name of “Howard”, however. Her 1st husband James A. Howard appears to be listed in the 1910 Census of Benton, Christian, Missouri, age 78, and living with his son “Richard”. So it appears sometime after the 1860 census she divorced and remarried!
She did not die as she and my grandfather and families traveled together from Fort Benton, Montana to Boise, Idaho. They met at Fort Benton in the Spring of 1888, left in the spring of 1892 and arrived at Boise, Idaho in the summer of 1892.
