I'm familiar with those deeds, but I hadn't considered the possibility that they referred to two James Allens. I assumed he received land for transporting himself. But you could be right.
We have had some new recent developments with this family. A record has been found that possibly locates a John Allen in Stafford, Va. in 1682, which would make him a likely candidate to be the farther of the well documented John and William Allen of Stafford who show up on records in circa 1696.
Another record has been found that documents a William Allen "of Northumberland" selling land in Old Rapphannock Co. Virginia around 1655 or so. We think this is significant because it mentions that the land is next to Moore Fauntleroy's land, and family tradition always stated that the Allens might be connected with Mr. Fauntleroy.
I will get around to posting those records on here eventually.
Thanks again, Chris
