Recently my brother took the Allen DNA test and we have been placed with the New England Allens which includes Edward Allen b. @1732 in Massachusetts. Job Allen (b @ 1830 GA), his siblings, and mother were in GA in early 1800s. Never been able to find proof of father. Joyce and I are trying to tie into the Adoniram, Benjamin Job, etc. Allens who seem to have moved around a lot between NC, KY, and GA. Now, Iím trying to make this short here! Iíve been looking at old Allen info I have collected over the past 40 years and came upon a will by one Hiram Starr dated 10-17-1821 in Wilkinson Co., GA which includes the following legacy: ďTo the several sons and daughters of Mr. Allen in Cheshire, Vermont, who married my sister, Hannah, formerly Hannah Starr, 1205 acres on Oconee River, in 3rd and 4th districts of Wilkinson Co.Ē Will goes on to name other members of his family as heirs. I have found that his name was not Hiram Starr but Hiram Storr or Storrs. According to ďThe Storr FamilyĒ (which is on the internet as a E book) by Charles Storrs, privately printed in 1886 pg. 13, Hiram Storrs was the son of Huckins Storrs and his wife, Jerusha, the widow of Joshua Allen. They lived in Lebanon, NH, and Randolph and Chelsea, VT. Book states Hiram, the third son, was a graduate of Dartmouth, a lawyer by profession and emigrated to GA where he died in Irvington in the year 1819. This is Irwinton, Wilkinson Co., GA. In the Milledgeville, GA newspaper of Nov. 8, 1815, it has an article about his opening his law office in Monticello, GA. He did not marry. His heirs other than the above mentioned Hannah Allenís children were other sisters and the children of his deceased brother, Huckins. The book states that Hiramís sister was Eunice Allen with no mention of a Hannah. The will states his sister, Hannah, married Mr. Allen. There was no Eunice mentioned in Hiram Storrsí will. My Job Allenís oldest sister was named Hannah; his older brother was named Hiram. Iím thinking that possibly some of Hannah Allenís children came to GA to claim the land in Wilkinson Co. There were Allens in Wilkinson Co., GA - one being a David and Nancy Allen who sold land in 1823. My Jobís mother was named Nancy. In your research, have any of you come across a ?? Allen who married a Hannah Storrs? Who is this Joshua Allen? Would appreciate any information or clues that might help me.
