The Valley Chronicle, Jan. 24, 1896
Died, suddenly of heart disease, at the residence of her son-in-law, Charles H. Caustin, in St. Charles on Thursday morning, Jan. 23, 1896, Mrs. Eliza Aldrich, of Algonquin, aged 77 years.
Deceased came here a little before the holidays to visit with her daughter and family, and was a guest of their household when the unexpected summons came. She appeared as vigorous as usual when she arose yesterday morning, and ate her breakfast. While at the table she complained of feeling sick, and was assisted to a couch, where she died in a very few minutes. Dr.Constant was called but found on his arrival that the venerable lady was beyond medical aid.
Mrs. Caustin was very much prostrated by the unlooked for shock. She and her husband have the sympathy of many friends in their great bereavement. The funeral services will be held at Algonquin Saturday. Undertaker Vorhis prepared the remains for burial but will not accompany them to Algonquin.
