Garry –
I’d love to share some information with you – I’m trying to nail down the very Alcorns you mention – Michael, Jane, John, Joseph, George …

Please take a look at what I have already – www.halbstein.com

I have George Alcorn b. 1754 in Donegal, Ireland; father with no first name, married Nancy Foster.

In this line in the “History of Westmoreland County” Nancy is referred to as “Porter” but I think this is a mis-transcription (“P” can be mistaken for “F”, and “r” can be mistaken for “s” pretty easily)

I’d love to know who the parents and grandparents were, whether these were the “Duncan” Alcorns, and if you have any Church records from Ireland.

My information indicates that daughter Jane and son John were born in Ireland; John died at sea. A third child may have been born in Ireland; three others born in Westmoreland County. On my web site I have George’s will. I am descended from George and Nancy.

I have George’s daughter Jane marrying Michael Alcorn from the “other” family that came from Ireland; son of Joseph.

I’d be grateful if you’d take a look at my info and see if it jives with yours, and help me fill in the gaps re the immigration from Ireland. I’ve been in touch with an Ulster Genealogy group but they say I don’t have enough concrete info for them to search. Thanks
