The following information seems to be reliable, based partly on official records and partly on personal accounts:

I am descended from James Alcorn (1758-1825) and Diannah Woodward (1774-1830). James was born in Fairfield County, South Carolina. I do not know Diannahís birth place. James and Diannah moved to Jackson County, Tennessee sometime after 1795, which is where they died. I donít know if they lived in other locations between 1795 and their deaths.

It becomes less certain who Jamesí parents were. I have seen several family trees showing his parents as Robert Alcorn (1728-1798) born in Augusta, Virginia and Mary Ann Quinn (1735-1797) born in Virginia. Both of these died in Madison, Kentucky. However, I have not seen any good evidence indicating that they ever lived in South Carolina, so I am not sure if this is the right lineage. It gets confusing because there are a lot of different Alcorns in the 1700s with the names Robert and James.

My question is: does anyone have any information relating to the appearance of James Alcorn (1758-1825) in South Carolina?
