Annemarie, thanks for the note. My last time in Ireland was in 1997 and with the help of a very good local, we really tried to track down this family, alas with not much luck. My ancestor and his family emigrated to the USA in 1846 and we have very good records from that time on. However, all we secured locally in Donegal were the original church records of Dunfanaghy Presbyterian Church. There was no legal requirement I was told to record vitals before my folks left Donegal, so researching in 1845 and prior is quite hard.

On the Melvin/McDonald side, we have the Lower Glade Cemetery records and a very large data file on the Melvin families. Much of this can be seen at our online site which is at:

Others are actively working the McDonald family. The public library in London, Madison Co., Ohio has a good genealogy department but is not online so a field trip there is required. We have not personally been there but have talked to others who have with good reports.
