I am descended from one of the five Cooper/Kieffer brothers who fought in the French and Indian Wars. They are George, Job, Valentine, Thomas and Henry. They are German by nationality. Most of the information that I can find printed is concerning Valentine, but he is not my ancestor. My male Cooper cousin took the DNA tests, so we are certain and had exact matches with a descendent of Valentines...except for the variation that would mean it was another brother.
My main problem, here in San Diego, is finding information on those wars. Valentine said in CHalkey's Chronicles, that he had three brothers in the regular army in the old French Wars and they were at Fort Duquesne in 1758; was w;ith Dunmore and the treat at Big Shawneetown.
I would like to be able to find any records or books that would give me a better history of these encounters. Valentine was given some honor at Ft. Pitt...I just need help on material to read and any help that anyone else can give me.
This is not the first family I have had involved with the Indian Wars. My gggggrandfather Frederick See was killed by them at Kanawah and his famly taken prisonor into Ohio and released later..My next ggggrandfather down the line was captured by Logan and taken prisonor into the same place in Ohio. This was William Robinson. He married Margaret See Roach, a prisonor from the first group.
Oh well, I just need some help on the Cooper/Keiffer line, Thank you very much
