Origin of Brownwood Bloody Bill's Claim??

I read an interesting post on the "MO in the Civil War" message board, here is an exerpt:
"The story about Bill Anderson (meaning Bloody Bill, as you will see in the complete message)living in Brownwood, Texas and being buried in the Staley Cemetery originated with my great grandmother, Lucy (Anderson) Whaley. She told the story to the local newpaper and the history books picked it up. Bill Anderson's brother was killed on the Texas State Capital's grounds. My great grandmother died in 1939 and before she died, she said the Brownwood William "Bloody Bill" Anderson had photos of his sisters on his bedside table, one sister who died in Kansas City jail collapse. My great grandmother claimed she was related to William "Bloody Bill" Anderson. My father told me that Lucy hated Yankees as much as old Bloody Bill did"
