Genealogy Report to RTF with embedded index

Why can't FTM, when it generates a genealogy report to an RTF file (Rich Text Format) create the index entries and embed them in the document, adjacent to the person's name?

Then, when you pull up the RTF report into say, Microsoft Word, you can go to the bottom of the report, insert a section break, and then do an Insert > Index-and-Tables and Word would go thru the document, gather up the index entries, sort them, and then pour the index into the new section (it will pour the index into the document whereever your cursor is sitting, so you need to be sitting at the top of the new section, the one you just created for the index).

This feature of embedded index entries is something that Roots III (a DOS program) could do back in 1990!

RTF is not hard to do, so I also don't understand why some of the other reports, like the Indented Outline Descendancy report, cannot also be written to an RTF file, again, with embedded index entries.

Being able to take reports from my genealogy software to my word-processing program is a VERY powerful feature. Roots III could send any and all of its reports to disk in RTF or WordPerfect format. That's why it was "king of the hill" in genealogy software for so many years, and is still being used by a LOT of people.

Course, this same feature made it's way into Roots III's successors, Roots IV and V, and later Ultimate Family Tree, and also in The Master Genealogist and other programs, like Brothers Keeper for Windows.

And so, FTM folks, when can we expect more RTF reports, and when can we expect embedded index entries? We need this, because FTM's book publishing feature is not flexible enough.

Sincerely,
