Joseph Carter Sr. of Greene Co., Tenn. was living in Tenn. by 1780. He owned the land that John Carter Sr. built "Carters Station" on over an abandoned Indian Village
before 1783. Joseph died in 1811 Intestate, in Greene County and his son, Joseph Carter Jr., was the Administrator. Joseph Carter Jr., born about 1750 "on The James River", died about 1830. He was a Methodist Episcopal Minister. He married Phebe Harmon, and had seven children: Micajah, Jabish, Lewis, Sidney (first wife of Anderson Trim), Atlanta, Celentia, Cynthia. Phebe moved to Monroe Co., Tenn. and died at age 103. She is not the same Phoebe (...)Williams-Carter, wife of Caleb Carter, who was living with her son, Lewis, in Monroe Co., Tenn. in the 1850
Census. Anderson Trim was a brother of Elizabeth Trim who married Allen Carter, son of John Carter Jr., on July 29, 1818 in Greene County, Tenn.
