Loved to feed everyone and everything. Always had something in her hands. When she laughed her eyes danced. Played the guitar and sang when encouraged. Always took the grandchildren to the "gullies" to slide down the sandy dunes. She was long in patience. In evenings she crocheted dollies, lace for pillowcases, etc. Played guitar (see what papa says). When first married, she couldn't cook--couldn't even boil water. However, her father in law (Wm W. Phillips) wouldn't allow any criticism of it....he told W. T. that if he didn't like it, not to eat it. He always allowed compliments on the meals, but no negative criticism.
