I have the book:
The Williams families of New Jersey
(Descendants of Matthew Williams of Wethersfield, Connecticut

chapter 12 page 308
The Lindley family
1-0. Francis Lindley (aka Lindsley, Lindly) m June 24, 1655
2-1. Deborah Lindley, b April 22, 1656, still living Mar 8, 1714-15: m(as his second wife), John
Cunditt/Cundit, b England or Wales; d 1713, Newark, NJ.(John Conditt was first known in
NJ, 1678, with a grown son, Peter Conditt, by his first wife.)
2-2. Ruth Lindley, b Feb 4, 1658; d July 27, 1724, Orange Essex Co., NJ. M c. 1685, Matthew
Williams (1651-1732) see page 2 for descendants.

page 2

Matthew Williams, II (1. Matthew) b 8 May 1651, Wethersfield, CT, married 1685, in Orange,
Co., NJ, Ruth Lindley, b 4 Feb 1658, Banford, CT or Orang, NJ (dau of Francis Lindley and
Susannah Culpepper) died 27 July 1724, orange, Essex Co, NJ, buried with husband. Matthew
12 Nov 1732, Orange Essex Co, NJ, buried First Presbyterian Church yard, Caldweell, Essex
Co, NJ.
Matthew Williams II did not marry Ruth Wheeler, b 1653 of Fairfield or Stratford. Raymond
Wheeler lists her 3 husbands. Ruth Wheeler m/1, 1673, E. Jones; m/2, 1677, T. Browne, m/3,
1718, J.
Children of Matthew Williams, II and Ruth Lindley
1. Jemima Williams b c 1686
2. Jane Williams b 1688, Essex Co. NJ, married Abraham Soverel, (Son of Samuel Soverell),
Jane died
10 Dec 1741, NJ. One record shows Jane Williams married Abraham Soverel (1716-1745) in
1697 and
had two children, jane (b 17 Jan 1743), and Matthias (b20 Sept 1745), who married Abigail
Dodd in
1765. Because of the 28 year difference in the ages of Jane and Abraham and the birth dates of
children, it is believed some other Jane Williams (not yet identified) was involved.
3. Amos Williams, Esq. b 18 Mar 1690
4. Eunice Williams b 1692, Orange, Essex Co, NJ, died 9 Aug 1752. (never married)
5. Matthew Williams, III born 1694
6. Gershom Williams born 1698
7. Thomas Williams b 1700
8. Joanna Williams b 1702
9. Rebecca Williams b 1704
10 Ruth Williams b 1708, Essex Co, NJ, died 1724, (Ruth was possibly a daughter)

this book then shows family for Jemima Williams, Amos Williams, Esq., Matthew Williams,
Gershom Williams, Thomas Williams, Joanna Williams, and Rebecca Williams.
It goes one and on and would be entirely two much typing. you can get this book at any good
Genealogy library and you can start where I left off on page 3 and find the rest of the
Hope this helps some.
