William Layton’s descendant Thomas Layton b. 1738 Freehold NJ, lived Millstone NJ
and Sandyston Twp NJ, then moved to Steuben Co. NY in 1812 where one or more of his
sons had received land in the military tract. Thomas’ gravestone, at the Free Will Baptist Cemetery in Urbana NY reads:

Thomas Layton died 1825
Lydia Westwood died 1835

Bible records have that Thomas m. Lydia in 1764 in Scotch Plains, NJ. Her name is
sometimes given as Westbrook. So far I haven’t managed to establish her family
connections under either name. Can anyone help?
