Sarah (Sally) Vandyke was actually a half-sister to Richard Wilson Vandyke (1812-1873). She was a daughter of Freeman Vandyke (abt 1762-April 1830) and his first wife. Richard Wilson Vandyke was a son of Freeman and his second wife, Mary Whittle. Freeman was the son of Henry Vandyke (abt 1725-abt 1795) of Lunenburg County, Virginia and his second wife, Amy Freeman. I am descended from Richard Wilson Vandyke's older brother, Henry C. Vandyke (1800-1884) of Jefferson County, TN and wife Lucy Gail Cate.
