I finally located the source for my mentioning an Agnes Keith being the daughter of George and Agnes (McCoy) Keith. I have not documented this Agnes, myself. The source was: Post by: Bill Keith dated November 19, 2000 Message URL: http://genforum genealogy.com/keith/messages/2446.html
Forum URL: http://genforum.genealogy.com/keith/
I apologize for my sloppiness and should not have mentioned this Agnes without confirming the information. I had entered this info into my system when I first started researching and had forgotten where it had come from, thus two days of searching for the source.
In the book "History of Kentucky" taken from ancestry .com there is a biography on Capt. Pendleton Farmer De Weese Keith son of JohnDoniphan Keith and Mary Ann (Marann)Holmes Keith.
This article lists 11 children for George and Agnes Keith of whom JohnDoniphan Keith was the immediate ancestor, the others were Thomas, Alexander, Mary, Martha, Eliza, Kittie (Catherine), James, Frank, Anderson and Clay.
The biography of Capt. Pendleton Farmer De Weese Keith (b. October 27, 1835, Pendleton Co., Ky d. October 14, 1912 in Fayette Co., Ky) was extremely informative, stating Capt. Keith served under Gen. John Morgan until captured at Mount Sterling, and was a prisoner of war, held at Johnson's Island, for the remainer of said war. He was a Confederate soldier(he was one of nine brother's and the only one who fought on the confederate side) and his father and several of his brother's were Union soldier's. Gives a true meaning of a divided nation, doesn't it? He married Sarah Howard Herbst(b.November 14,1837) on August 10, 1865. Her parents being George and Esther (Cox) Herbst. Sarah's father was a pioneer banker of Maysville, Ky.
Pendleton and Sarah had six children: Lula Deweese, John H., George W., and Pickett, twins; Addie and Charles.
I have been documenting this family and will e-mail you with that research if you would like.
Thank you for the lead on Charles M. Keith; I will research that possibility for Charles Shilling and Agnes Keith.
