I have a family tree which traces my father's side. It begins with a Duncan MacKinnon (1765-1837). It does not specify as to where he was born. It just says "Born in the Hebrides". However, his son, Alexander MacKinnon was born on the Isle of Muck in 1797.

Let me know if you would like some more information.
