History of Kane Co., Ill 1908
Joslyn and Joslyn

Charles Ehorn, page 730

Charles Ehorn, deceased, was one of the representative farmers of Kane Co., and although born on the other side of the Atlantic he was a faithful and loyal citizen, fighting for the preservation of the Union when the country became involved in civil strife. He was a native of Germany, his natal day being Feb.5, 1846, and he spent the first fifteen years of his life in the fatherland, where he was given a good practical education. His father was a merchant of that country.
Arriving in America at the age of 15 years, Mr. Ehorn located in Dundee, Ill., and there worked on a farm for some time. He was only 18 yrs of age when he entered the service of his adopted country during the war of the Rebellion, becoming a member of Company I, 52nd Illinois Volunteer Infantry, with which he remained for 18 months.
On being discharged from the army at the close of hostilities, Mr. Ehorn returned to Dundee and resumed farming, which occupation he continued to follow throughout life.
On the 10th of August 1867, Mr. Ehorn was united in mariage to Miss Mary Fierke, a daughter of John and Mary Demmin Fierke, and to them were born 20 children, of whom 3 died in infancy. The others are still living, namely : Mary, Carrie, Fred, Elizabeth, Charles, Anna, John, Christopher, Harry, Frank, albert, Clara, Edward, Arthur,
Ralph, Mabel and George. All are now self supporting and they constitute a highly esteemed family. Mr. Ehorn died Sept 18, 1905, in the faith of the Lutheran Church, whith which he long held membership, and he had the respect and confidence of all who knew him.
