On page 51 of the "House of Cessna" a Cessna descendant reports that John Cessna of Shippensburg who died in 1796 married Sarah Rose on April 4, 1740. Major John Cessna who lived out his life in the Cumberland Valley Twsp. of Bedford Co. named one of his daughters Sarah Rose.(see p.60 of "The House of Cessna.) Major John Cessna of Cumberland Valley Twsp. was the son of John Cessna of Shippensburg.(The Census and tax records for Bedford Co. show John Cessna Sr. and John Cessna Jr. living in Cumberland Valley Twsp. for several years during the Revolutionary War.) If John Cessna of Shippensburg married in 1740, then the Maj. John Cessna of Cumberland Valley Twsp. in Bedford Co. was not born in 1726. This is more likely the birth year of John Cessna of Shippensburg who died in 1796. The author manipulated dates and names to....
