I need help... I'm trying to find the grave of Winifred Crook aged abt 15yrs.Winifred beening one of seven children, three unable to walk as a result of rickets, arrived in New York with her parents from England abt 1881.Her father John Crook and mother Emma Crook, were unable to get work in New York so desided to go west. They arrived in a town near or around the Appalachian Mountains,(so we've been told or it may have been another town somewere along the railway track to San Francisco)They started up a bakery shop.It was doing well, then typhoid fever broke out and half the town died or left as fast as they could. My greatgrand mother nursed those who were sick,a few survived, but many did not.Winifred, was helping her mother with the nursing. When the fever started to die out,Winifred went down with it ,and died very quickly. It was a shock to them all and the family left the town and found their way to New Zealand. So somewere in the USA lies our great auntie Winifred remains. Our family often think of Winifred and would love to make the trip to the USA to visit her grave. Daphne.
