Barb, I think your best and easiest approach would be to order his death certificate from Michigan. There is a $26 search fee (non-refundable) but this includes a copy of the certificate, if one is found. The way I read it, there are no restrictions on obtaining death certificates from Michigan (unlike some states). I believe that a fairly recent certificate will give both the funeral home which handled the burial as well as the cemetery where he is buried. Of course if he died somewhere other than Michigan, you will draw a blank. If you are successful, then you can contact the funeral home (if still in business)and obtain copies of their records, which might contain an obit or death notice.
