I have come across the same sort of thing except the curiousity about the grass. My grandparents died during the Spanish Flu in 1918. I had my suspicions of the cemetery. Once I found the cemetery, I found out their graves were unmarked. My suggestion is to contact the cemetery office. Someone in the maintenance department for the grounds should be able to tell you what kind of grass you are seeing. Where you suspect there is a grave and unmarked, there probably is one. The older graves tend to show the outline of the hole and sink down a bit below the normal ground level. This is due to the fact the casket has probably crushed from the weight of soil on top of it. The usual depth of a grave is standard 6 feet.
