Meg,
Re: I have access to the New York Times on-line and will check to see if there is an obituary around the time you suggest.
Find anything?
I think my Grandmother, Rebecca Smith was most likely living in NYC when she passed away. I could be wrong and it could have been Queens, but her son, Walter lived in NYC and may have used a NYC funeral home. Her Obit would be in the Times -- perhaps. And perhaps it would mention the name of the Cemetery where she was interred which may be the same as the one where my Dad is. She died in the 1960's or 1970's...if the names are listed alphabetically, rather than by date, she MAY be easy to find. As mentioned, her oldest son, Walter, lived in NYC. Walter is a very popular name so I wouldn't even suggest you look for him since I've no idea about him, except that he had a sone named, Ronnie. If my Grandmother is the one I think I found in the 1910 census, she was born in NY (probably Queens) approximately 1880. Her husband Charles was three years older and her son Walter was born approimately 1907. I hope I'm not wearing you out with all this. I'll understand if you feel burned out and would rather not continue searching the Times for me.Her death wouldn't have been a secret and so she may indeed be listed in the Times Obits. This is getting exciting...Dorothea Theodora
