Re: Celsi Family, Manarola
My grandmother, Elvira Celsi, was raised in Manarola, Italy, in the late 19th Century. Her father was Lorenzo Celsi; her mother, the former Sabina Rolandi.Elvira and two of her brothers, Guido Celsi and Candido Celsi, emigrated to San Francisco, California in the first few years of the 1900's. The two brothers moved to Portland, Oregon after the 1906 quake. The last of Lorenzo's children, Alberto Celsi, died a few years ago.Alberto was a life-long resident of the Manarola area, which is known as the Cinqueterre. There are still many Celsi's in that area, and we have Celsi relatives in Roma and Napoli.Guido had a son, Lorenzo, who lives in New York.Elvira’s children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren live on the West Coast of the U.S. Manarola and the Cinqueterre, by the way, are well worth visiting.
