William "Wirt" Cecil

Does anyone know anything about this person? He has a bio in Sutton's 1883 "History of Shelby county OH". Can anyone confirm that his middle name was Wirt? I find it strange that he would be named for the attorney general William Wirt, since he was born when Wirt was only about 14. This was years before he became a houshold name. Wirt is an unusual name, otherwise. The bio states that William W. Cecil was a judge. Did he assume the name WIrt later in life? I would guess that the W stands for White for his grandmother, but the bio was probably written by someone who knew him well, perhaps even his son.
