At this time I do not think John is in my line, but I have this information and it may help someone. John L. Cearley was born in 1860 in Hardemen County, Tennessee, to John W. and Milly Booth Cearley. In 1869 his family moved to Denton County, Texas. In 1877 John W. bought land near the west fork of the Trinity River, just west of Village Creek. Today this land is in the middle of Lake Bridgeport. At age 26 John L. was elected constable for precinct 7, a position he held for ten years, while he farmed. In 1888, he married Effie Dickinson. They had three daughters. (names not given) On November 4, 1902 Cearley was elected to his first term of office, serving until December 31, 1905. After serving in public office, he went back to his farm. He died in 1925 and is buried in the Chico Cemetery. This is all that is contained in the write up, however there is a picture of John L. Betty.........in Texas
