My great grandmother, Maggie Christine Bird Griffin mother was a Cearley. Maggie moved to Quanah in about 1920, her mother was also there. Her name was Sarah Elizabeth Cearley Bird. Her husband was John W. Bird, he died in Travis Co., TX in 1895. Sarah Cearley Bird remarried in about 1900 to P. E. Elliot.
She was known in Quanah as Granny Elliot.
I feel like there must be a connection.
My family on both sides come from Quanah. In fact my Uncle Jimmy Wall lives in Vernon and worked until recently. He just retired. Many of my Griffin, Wall, family still live there.
