William (3rd - my notation), son of Bartholomew, was born September 9, 1717 in Marlborough, Middlesex, MA. He moved to Wilkes Co. NC, where he died in 1796. He was married to Patsy Carter.

Their son William (4th) also was born in Marlborough, but moved to Virginia, marrying Rachel Neale c 1775. Their son Larkin (one of 7 children) was born Halifax Co. VA 1/10/1776. William 4th died in 1811 in Wilkes Co. NC and Larkin did as well in October 1, 1841. I have been to Larkins grave just north of Taylorsville at a Baptist Church. Larkin married Mary Barnes, d. of Soloman Barnes and Elizabeth Isabelle Murphree.

There was a move of the family to Wilkes Co. for unknown reasons. I have speculated that it may have been because of the discovery of precious gems in the area (still mined today). Later, some of the descendants moved to Union Co. Ga. Was it because of the gold rush in that area at the time?
