My information shows she was b. May 24, 1883. Wonder if the birth year is wrong as she would have been waaay too young to be married. Her parents were Martin V. Prince and Lucinda Watkins.
This information was received from other Prince researchers:
The Guion Miller rolls of Cherokees entitled to compensation by the Federal
government was reported May 28, 1909. He listed 45,847 applications, listing
approximately 90,000 individual claimants. Among these 30,254 were enrolled
and eligible for a share of the funds. However, the rolls includes
information on both accepted and non-accepted applicants. These records are
part of the National Archives, Record Group 123, Records of the Bureau of
Indian Affairs. Dessie Prince Cearley's application number is 44606. I
strong urge you to obtain a copy and study her application for details. When
I copied from her application I did so with just passing interest, so I may
have missed something important. If I copied correctly, the following is
Dessie's statements: Dessie was born on May 24, 1883 in Dawson Co., GA. He
father was Martin Prince. Her mother was Lucinda Watkins. Her paternal
grandparents were Willis Prince and Eliza Wimpey. Dessie says the children
of Willis and Eliza Prince was: 1. Martin Prince, wife named Lucinda Watkins;
2. Alvin Prince, wife named Brit? Watkins (could not read the first name)
3.Betsy Prince (no husband listed) 4. Sarah Prince, husband Thomas Watkins;
5. Marinda? Prince (not sure of the name Marinda) husband or wife named
Winnie Rich? (these names very faded and hard to read. I may be off a mile
in trying to decipher these names. It appeared to me as Marinda but the
spouse's name appeared to be Winnie Rich, which appears to me to be a female
name) 6. Larkin Prince, wife name is Elizabeth Gaddis; 7. Archie Prince, (no
spouse listed); 8. Millison Prince (no spouse listed).
I have more info on the Prince line. Nothing on the Cearley line. You can email me privately if you like at prince@hiwaay.net
