Although I have never seen a reference to the fact - but there is also another possibility - that being that Bartholomew had a son Bartholomew who was a minister or had the right to do baptisms.There was a Bartholomew and also an Abraham who were given land by the Crown in Canada - what is now Ontario, I think - as American Loyalists following the Revolution - and some other Carleys who moved into Nova Scotia.But back to the main point - a second Bartholomew would have been closer in age to fathering a son William and baptising him in 1717.Or, William could have sought baptism later in life as death became more of a threat.
