Hello Betty;

My Barnes line were in North Carolina in the 1700's, coming originally from Chester Co., Pa before that, as they were Quakers during that time.

They lived in various counties in N.C. as they slowly moved westward, and they definitely were in Alexandria Co. for a period of time.

I know there was a connection with them and the Cearley family, but I have vague info as it appears they did move into Indiana as my ancestors did.

My great-grandparents, Joshua Barnes and Sarah Murphree, were somehow connected with these other families, including the Chapman families also.

They both were born around 1800 and were married in North Carolina before coming to southern Indiana.
