Caywood and McDaniel
We would like to announce the formation of the McDaniel Family Association for those who are descendants of Daniel MackDaniel/McDaniel (died ca 1745 in Charles County, MD) and his wife, Anne. Anyone who can establish that they are descendants of this McDaniel family are encouraged to contact us.
The McDaniel Family Association was formed by a group of 24 “cousins” that have been working together for some time to build a Master File of the descendants of Daniel MackDaniel/McDaniel. We have spent the intervening months working out the details of the family association and adopting Bylaws for the association and are now ready to consider new members.
The stated purpose of the association is to gather historical and genealogical data on the family and organize other activities to promote family unity. Our Bylaws prohibit the dissemination of data on those still living so your information will not be made public.
While we know of several children of Daniel MackDaniel/McDaniel, the only one about whom we know very much is the family of Thomas McDaniel (ca 1725-1767 in Charles County, MD) and his wife, Rebecca Stewart. They had at least eleven children born from about 1745 to about 1762.
Mary Ann McDaniel who married John Darnall
Priscilla McDaniel who married Stephen Caywood
Stacia McDaniel who married Isaac Darnall
Daniel McDaniel who married Benedicta, last name unknown
Allen McDaniel, marriage unknown
Thomas McDaniel who married (1) Anne Chatham and (2) Jane Rise
Isaac McDaniel who married Priscilla Berry
Sarah McDaniel who married (unknown) Harris
Nathaniel McDaniel who married Millie Lowe
Mildred (or Amelia) “Milly” McDaniel who married Samuel Carrington
Rebecca McDaniel, marriage unknown
If you are interested in this family association or have questions about your possible ties to the family, please contact me for further information. I will be happy to try to answer your questions or put you in contact with someone who can. I would also be happy to mail you a Membership Application form if that is your choice.
As a descendant of two of these children and one of the 24 “cousins” who founded the organization, I am privileged to serve as Secretary of the association. Feel free to contact me at [email protected].
Regards,
Charles E. Templer
