I'm assuming you are aware that William Thomas Caylor was born 1 September 1860 and that he was the son of Private John Caylor and his wife Martha Bryant (who married 28 Jul 1839). After the death of John Caylor, Mrs. Martha Caylor [Kallar in the license] married 9 April 1864 in Blount Co. TN to William Dunn. She died after the birth of her son Sherman Dunn in 1865.
From John Caylor's war records and pension testimony on behalf of his orphans...
John Caylor enrolled 8 Mar 1862 Boston KY in Co. B, 6th Reg, Tn Volunteers [Union] to serve 3 years or duration, mustered in as pvt. on 18 April 1862.Died in hospital at Murfreesboro, TN March 7 1863 of disease.
A full brother of William T. Caylor was named Perry Caylor, born 10 Feb 1854.
There were older children, too old to receive orphans' pension payments after the death of Pvt. John Caylor. John and Martha and these older children resided in Blount County, TN in 1850 but the enumerator mistakenly spelled the surname Taylor. One of these children was the Eli Caylor with whom William Thomas Caylor was enumerated in 1880 Murray Co. Ga.
I got these pension and service records a couple of decades ago when I was checking similar records about my direct ancestor Corporal John J. Caylor, of the same Union outfit. My ancestor of similar name was a nephew of the above Pvt. John Caylor, and moved to Whitfield/Murray County shortly after the end of the War.
