Shadrach Cayce, brother of Joel and D.N., is my g-g-g-g-grandfather. His son, Thomas Dodson Cayce, is my Paternal g-g-g-grandfather, while his daughter, Nancy Ann Cayce Parks is my Maternal g-g-grandmother (note the change in number of greats!). Whew!
I have Joel Archibald Cayce, born Dec. 26, 1814 in Tennessee (source is Smith, T.L, "Notes on the Early Cayce Family", Manuscript dated 10 May 1963). T.L Smith is/was from Ft. Worth TX.
In a letter from Nancy Ann Cayce Parks to Judge Andrew McCormick dated Dec. 16, 1893 from Temple, Texas, she states the following:
"My brother Joel married a Miss Kidd in Lawrence County about 1834 and moved to Pulaski, Missouri. I have known but little of them."
Info I have on Mary Kidd (source is WWW - Cayce: Posted April 28, 1999 stating Mary Kidd, birth and death, 2nd wife, by Susan Collins on the Cayce Family GenForum), married Feb 18, 1840 in Lawrence County; died Aug 15, 1841 (I wonder why I didn't record her birth date!).
I also have Joel married to Isabella Messinger (Wallace), but I am not sure why I stated the Wallace in parenthesis (sorry!).
I found census records showing:
1850Itawamba Co., MS Joel living with his brother D.N. Cayce
1860Itawamba Co., MS Joel and Isabella
1870Tishimingo Co., MS Joel and Isabella
If you are interested in more text from Mr. Smith, please let me know.
