One other item I would add that further proves that who ever the Sarah Cavanist was that died in 1803 was not a Carr .Sarah came to NC in 1799 she bought land in Randolph Co NC she arrived with four children Benjamin , Susannah , Elizabeth and Polly. Sarah was already a widow,I believe at this point she was the widow of Matthews son William born about 1765.There is no proof She was a widow ,she had four children. The reason that she was not a Carr are several first of all the Sarah who was a sister of the William Carr married David Fanning. The second reason is The Carr family had been in the Randolph Co area since the Revolutionary war again this we know because of land records and the fact that William Carr was a lieutenant in Torries he rode under David Fanning. They rode hard and caused a lot of heartache for the folks who were not Tories.burned homes, robbed, killed and plundered. The point is Sarah Cavanist married someone and had her children while living in either Mecklenburg Co Va or Granville Co NC.Whoever she was her husband also was also from that area.Because surely a young William Caviness did not go to Randolph Co NC and find him a wife back in 1785 and return with her to Va.This makes no sense. There is absoulutley no reason to think Sarah Cavanist was a Carr other than he was one of the executors of her estate. This certainly did not make him her brother ,and it is even a bigger stretch of the immagination to claim Fredricks wife also a Carr for5 the same reasons.Who ever Fredricks wife was she was certainly also from the Mecklenburg Co Va area as that is where he lived . not until 1799 are Caviness in the Chatham Co or Randolph Co areas of NC.Carrs were here a long time by then/
