"Does anyone know of Sarah F.Caviness?"
Well, maybe, Dee. Mrs. Anderson's book shows a Sarah Frances Caviness, daughter of Richard Ellis Caviness, was born on 31 Aug 1867 in Iowa and died 3 Nov 1907. She was called "Fannie."
She married, first, Wilber Silas Ferguson and they had one daughter named Wilberetta Rose Ferguson.
She married, second, William Carlton Davis and they had one son named Carl Davis.
She married, third, William Hillman Cotton. There was no issue out of this union.
(She must have had a thing for men whose given name began with the letter "W.")
Dee, I say "maybe" because, while the area seems right, Iowa, and her date of birth could fit with your grandfather's date of birth, the names just don't tie. You might want to browse around the 1900 census and see if you can locate her. It might be a little tough 'cause you'd have to look for threedifferent surnames (Ferguson, Davis, and Cotton. I would guess that in 1900, your grandfather would be with a family since he would have been 11 years.
