When I was a boy, my father's first cousin(John List) told me that my grandfather's brother(William)had been married to a James. The James was a cousin to the James boys. Over the years, I never followed up on the story until now. I would like to verify this information. You are the first person that I have talked to that has personal knowledge of a connection between the Cavin family and "the gang". I have no other information than that.
My family tree goes up through a William L Cavin,b26Sep1795(my great-great-grandfather, a son to Thomas Cavin who was a son to another Thomas Cavin. The second Thomas Cavin was a son to Samuel Caven, a Presbyterian preacher who is buried in PA in the cemetery of a church where he was a pastor. Samuel Caven came to the US from Ireland.
Your William Robert Cavin does not show up in any of my family tree findings. If I find out any more information I will share it with you.
