I just discovered this site. Wondering if anyone recognizes any of these names? My father died when I was young and he had lost contact with the Cavins when he was a baby anyway.
The farthest I can go back is James "Jim" Cavin (brothers: Mose, Nate; and possibly a sister)born Gettysburg, PA, married Elizabeth "Betsy" Day, born in Miss. Jim & Betsy's children were: George (married Elmira Christina Ashley, later remarried and move to Honduras, children: Andrew Jewel, Barney. and Nathalie Cavin Mills, Luther, Maxie, Annie Cavin Brown, Tom, and Robert. Robert (born in the Baton Rouge area) and his 2nd wife (Mary Jane Nettles)were my grandparents. They divorced when my father was a baby. He had other children, but I don't know how many or any names. My father was Johncie Lafayette Cavin, born 10-12-1906 in Winsboro, LA. I recently came across a Donald Cavin in NV whose grandfather (George) was my grandfather's (Jim) brother.
Just an aside. We have no idea of the origin of the Cavins. But when I was in Switzerland, I discovered MANY of them in the canton of Vaud (around Lausanne). Cavins go back to at least 1200 or so.
Anyway, if anyone recognizes any of these names, would love to hear from you.
