Much of my information came from the 1900 census, which is extremely difficult to read.
James' middle initial was over-written when the page was talleyed so I can't make it out at all.The "C." was supplied by one of our old-timers and could certainly have been mis-remembered as she also said he was usually known as "Bud".
His birth year could be read as 1857 as easily as 1867 and the first digit of his age is not readable at all.I have often found birthdates and ages to off one or two years on this census, so would consider these close enough to your more precise dates to count as a "match".
The name I transcribed as "Kincameron" you would undoubtedly have read as "Kincannon".
Do you know if Elizabeth Jane CASH was related to the Harriet CASH (married to John E. ATTEBERY) who lived near Luther at that time?
I do not know when the CAVETTs left Luther or where they went. There is no CAVETT plot on the ownership map of the Luther cemetery and no CAVETT burials in the two known canvasses.
We know that Bud ran the Frisco Hotel on North Main Street across from the depot. His occupation on the 1900 census was Saloonkeeper.I found a later reference to the "Cavett Hotel", but am not sure whether the Frisco Hotel was renamed or it was a different one.
