Somehow I made a note that your Benjamin went from Culpeper Co. to KY about 1794, then to Ohio, then back to KY before returning to Ohio in 1816. Is that correct?
Sue Ash's nephew Benjamin was the son of your Benjamin's brother John. There is a book by John Blankenbaker called "The Culpeper Classes, A List of The Classes in Culpeper County for January 1781 for Recruiting this State's Quota of Troops to serve in the Continental Army." It was privately published in Chadds Ford, PA, in 1999. In reviewing the data it contains, it appears to me that your Benjamin was the substitute listed for his brother John in the 66th class from Culpeper County, Jan. 1781. That is to say, John was the draft listed for that class, and he arranged for his brother Benjamin to be his substitute for Jan. 1781. I believe Culpeper at that time took in present-day Madison and Rappahannock counties.
