The Cavazos didn't originate from Spain. They originated from the Northern part of Italy between the cities of Milan and Venezia. It also didn't start as Cavazos. The real last name is Cavazzi and Cavazza. I don't know which one exactly it is but I do know that it was one of those. When the last name got Monterrey, Mexico it was changed to Cavazos because the guy that brought the last name said that he needed to pluralize the last name because his family was too big and this it was better because it had a spanish tone to it. The person who brought the last name to Monterrey, Mexico was Juan Cavazzi del Campo, borned in Santa Maria, Castilla Spain. Son of Italian father and Gallician mother. He came to Monterrey, Mexico to manage the construction of the Cathedral in Monterrey, repeatedly he was major of the ciiy of Monterrey. He was a very rich man at that time. He settled the Hacienda de Santo Domingo that is located to the north of Monterrey. Israel Cavazos rescently wrote some books about the genelogy of the people with the last name Cavazos.
