James Cavanagh, b. Burton Hall, Deer Park, Co. Wicklow, Ire., 1812. m. Rose Burn(s) (b. Dublin, 1832) 5 October 1850 at Dublin. Emigrated to America before the end of that year. Arrived at N.Y. James had two brothers, Thomas and Barney. Thomas came to this country with James & Rose and then "later returned to Ireland to settle up some property and return to New York. He was never heard from since." James and Rose settled at Auburn, N.Y., where he took a job with the New York Central Railroad. After seven years they moved on to Phelps, Ontario Co. N.Y. Children born at Auburn: Charles, infant, (died at Auburn, 1852) Margaret,19 Feb. 1854 Mary, 26 May, 1855. Born at Phelps: Elizabeth, 12 Mar. 1857 John, 24 June 1859 Thomas, 1 Apr. 1861 James, 11 Oct. 1863. Died 17 Jan.1864 Rose, 20 Jan. 1866 (died before 1872) James, 27 Dec. 1868 Margaret m. Mr. Frank Spray, 5 Nov. 1872 of Buffalo, N.Y. Mary m. Edward Benham or Chapenville, N.Y. 20 Jan. 1874. John m. Louisa Petitepas of Halifax, N.S., 30 Aug. 1886 Thomas, m. Margaret Herffern (sp) of Phelps, Sister, Elizabeth m. Michael Connors of Clifton Springs, N.Y. (no children)died 1912 Brother, James (II) never married. James, (father) was killed by a runaway engine at 73yrs old, Phelps Junction, 1888. Some of the spellings on the death certificates use the "K" spelling for Cavanagh. I would like very much to know if Thomas had any children before he died so young. Also I have info about the married names of the children of the older sisters, if anyone is interested. Thanks, Phil
